Aurora Borealis

Archivist - Post your general topic here.

Katharine,

Someone already spoke to me about this. I assume you'd be concentrating on Olympus Mons. The only problem with this is that you might not get a chance to photography Olympus. It's a neat topic! You can do a lot with it by looking at archival THEMIS images of Olympus, but keep in mind that you might be shut out when you are taking your own image. If you are comfortable with that, go for it.

Sounds like a plan! I wish you well. Folks tried this last year, and did a half decent job with the research, then the satellite diodn't pass over the volcano! You might want to toy with a secondary question that would include any volcano.

Just remember to keep your options open if the satellite doesn't pass over Olympus Mons. You might want to toy with something like "What happens at the edges of volcanoes on Mars where the lava reaches the plains?" That way you can use ANY volcano. Just a thought.

Now don't be too quick about changing your plan on crater counting. Be sure you take a look at what ASU said about changing to Alba Patera. Crater counting is stilla viable choice.
